Knock down rebuild

Fall in love with a custom-designed home, built just for you in the location you love.

The home you’ve always wanted

If you’re lucky enough to own a property in the street you love in Canberra, but you’ve either outgrown your existing home or it doesn’t meet your needs, a knock down rebuild is a great option for you.

The process of demolishing an existing residence to design and rebuild your custom home on the same incredible block is becoming increasingly popular in Canberra and surrounding regions.

Why consider a
knock down rebuild?

  • Live where you love in Canberra and choose exactly how you want your home to look and feel
  • Create unique spaces for you and your family that suits your lifestyle
  • Significantly improve the value of your sought-after block of land in Canberra
  • Know your budget to knock down rebuild upfront, rather than facing unknown costs to renovate or extend that will heavily impact your budget to complete your home
  • Save precious time and avoid disappointment associated with auctions for overpriced established residences that don’t meet your needs
  • Invest your hard-earned budget towards the home you really want
  • Plan for an energy-efficient home in Canberra that keeps you warm in winter and cool in summer
  • Don’t settle for an existing home that requires costly and time-consuming maintenance or improvements
  • Enjoy peace of mind with a 7-year structural guarantee and warranties for your knock down rebuild
  • Have the experience of a lifetime

This boutique single-story dual occupancy residence in Canberra’s leafy inner north, exudes functionality, style and energy efficiency.

Being a long Mr Fluffy block required a clever architectural design and a combination of energy efficient features and building materials to ensure optimal orientation, natural sunlight and consistent temperatures throughout the day for this knock down rebuild project. We collaborated on this thoughtful knock down rebuild design to include skylights, atriums, in-slab heating, thermal broken windows and a complete solar package with battery.

Luxe Italian exterior bricks, two modern interior design schemes with polished concrete and timber flooring, stone benchtops, raked ceilings and custom joinery throughout create a unique wow factor for these beautiful Canberra residences.

Our clients brief to Quest Architecture was to reimagine the existing property, creating two bespoke single-storey townhouses on this O’Connor block amidst a streetscape of large two storey dwellings.

The single-storey urban infill of this project can’t be understated. It was an incredibly challenging planning exercise in relation to the boundary to boundary development and dual driveways required to successfully achieve our clients brief.  However, this is not evident in the end outcome which demonstrates how much skill and expertise has been put into the design and construction to deliver a unique and challenging outcome in a seamless, comfortable, functional, well-constructed and high quality manner.

This considered design achieved our clients brief for two 4-bedroom dwellings each with 2 living areas that received natural sunight and ventilation to all rooms.  Raised ceilings and high level windows to the entry, and a clever combination of internal atriums and skylights complimented the floorplan layout with wet areas and kitchen along the shared wall facing outward.  This thoughtful positioning creates a sensation of independence from the neighbouring dwelling.

No expense has been spared in the considered design, planning and building of this intricate project, to showcase high quality, innovation and comfort. A pleasure to work on for both Quest Architecture and Element, our clients are thrilled with the result.

Modern contemporary architecture meets timeless design and luxury living.

Architecturally designed by Steven Cetrtek of Thursday Architecture, this lavish two-story residence sits elevated with sweeping 180-degree views of the inner north, perfectly captured from the alluring terrace.  Maximising this large 900sqm corner block, this knock down rebuild residence has been cleverly designed to sit within the existing boundaries, whilst capturing views and light from every angle.

Featuring a luxe master bedroom suite, gourmet kitchen with wine bar, theatre room, library, gym, triple car garage, swimming pool, cabana and abundant gardens, this luxury family home is going to be a unique and iconic beauty.

Building approvals are complete and we can’t wait to start this epic knock down rebuild project in the inner north of Canberra.  Check out some of our interior design concepts from Steven’s talented in-house interior design team at Thursday Architecture.

If you’re looking to build, go to Element!

They are a local Canberra builder, they looked after us, talked to us, they’re not going to take you for a ride, they will build you a house that’s a home and make you feel like a person.

Noah Kerr & Anna Rice Strathnairn

I never ever thought I would move from my house of 43 years.

Element has been fantastic, I couldn’t say a bad word. Dennis is lovely and always answered any of my questions.

It's going to be exciting and interesting to live in my own house that I've planned and helped design.

It’s been very quick and the handover was much sooner than originally planned. The system for variations and the processes to follow have been really good, it’s all been very user-friendly, very time-saving. It’s been quite a good experience actually, no surprises. The team has been so awesome, very patient, nice and they really guided me as well.
